Excursion Report: Craft Museum, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi

Kothari International School, Noida, organized an educational visit to the Craft Museum at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, for Grade 5 students. This enriching excursion allowed students to immerse themselves in India’s rich handicraft traditions and regional textiles. They explored a variety of fabrics and techniques, including Benarasi brocade, Kanjeevaram silk from Tamil Nadu, Ajrakh and Itak from Gujarat, and learned about historical dyes such as wood ash, turmeric, and dried pomegranate peel.
The students were also treated to a unique temporary exhibition showcasing the works of European textile artist Ella Olosz Gazda, providing a fascinating contrast to India’s indigenous crafts. This trip was a truly holistic learning experience, offering a historical and cultural perspective while giving our students a taste of India’s rich heritage.
