Occupational Therapy

KIS OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY CENTER

At KIS the holistic development of each child is our top priority. In order to facilitate this 360 degree development, KIS has taken another step forward. The school has setup an Intervention Centerwithin the school premise for in school and outside school students.

The Program focuses on helping kids with physical, sensory or cognitive development and to achieve the maximum level of independence.

The Program uses the techniques of Occupational Therapy aiming for the development in the following areas:

  • Fine motor skills: grasp and release toys, pencils, crayons and develop good handwriting skills.
  • Hand–eye coordination: to improve play and school skills (hitting a target, batting a ball, copying from a blackboard, etc.)
  • Developmental delays: learn activities of daily life  (such as bathing, getting dressed, brushing their teeth, and feeding themselves)
  • Behavioral disorders: maintain positive behaviors in all environments (e.g., instead of hitting others or acting out, anger management
  • Coordination skills: needed to feed themselves, use a computer or increase the speed and legibility of their handwriting
  • Evaluating child’s need for specialized equipment, such as wheelchairs, splints, bathing equipment, dressing devices, or communication aids
  • Sensory and attention issues: to improve focus and social skills
