English Monthly Subject Enrichment Activity, Grade 9

As part of their English Monthly Subject Enrichment Activity, Grade 9 students creatively interpreted the theme of Robert Frost’s poem ‘The Road Not Taken’ on their soft boards, which were displayed outside their classroom. The students artistically represented the poem’s central idea of choice and consequence, using a variety of colors, images, and symbols to convey the speaker’s dilemma and introspection.
In addition, the students also explored the emotional journey of the protagonist in the story ‘The Lost Child’ by depicting the child’s facial expressions at different stages of their experience. In their scrapbooks, they drew or pasted faces or emojis to illustrate the child’s emotions, ranging from curiosity and excitement to fear, anxiety, insecurity etc. This visual representation allowed the students to delve deeper into the child’s emotional state and empathize with their struggles and triumphs.
Through this project, the students demonstrated their understanding of the poems and stories, while also showcasing their creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration skills. The soft boards and scrapbooks served as a vibrant and engaging display of their learning, inviting peers and teachers to appreciate their artistic and literary talents.
